K&N Cold Air Kit question

Does anyone have thiks stack and is it OK. My buddy is picking up the new Smarty shift on the fly and he would like to leave his EZ in place. Good idea?

My 2004. 5 likes the added extra pressure the Edge EZ provides when running either my Smarty or my Hot Juice. It's definitely a boost in power when you flip the EZ to the middle or high pressure level. That said, you can drain the rail down with the Smarty or the Juice on their higher settings probably because I haven't gotten around to the lift pump upgrade yet, I keep waiting for the stock pump to give up and it hasn't.

Also, I recently upgraded my Smarty to the 2006 POD, (Power on demand) with the REVO TNT software which includes many adjustable features including increased rail pressure. I suppose my EZ could be removed now that I have the RP feature within the Smarty programs. I haven't had a chance to try the RP features of the new software and probably wouldn't recommend it unless the EZ was removed because my EZ is the one with the 3 position in cab switch so it's always on with lowest pressure increase being the 20 hp setting. I wouldn't use both the EZ's and the Smarty's rail pressure combined, (one or the other, combined bad things might happen. ) This latest Smarty POD with the REVO TNT is the best I have tried so far but I'm still spoiled by the Edge Juice with Attitude and EZ for their easy push a button or flip a switch adjustability.

Although, back to your original question, yes the stack, (Smarty and EZ) work well, just don't use the two rail pressure increases combined.

Just my 2 cents.

The EZ and Smarty work great together, the EZ has smoother rail pressure delivery than the Smarty's pressure feature.

I will let the EZ handle the pressure on my stack, the Smarty's was too eratic. I know quite a few folks are using the TS MP-8 with the Smarty for the same reason. That would be my choice if I didn't already have an EZ.

I agree with above. I use my EZ with the Smarty TNT software. I have Smarty TNT RP at 2 and normally run EZ on Level 1 for daily driving and Level 2 for the track.

I have stacked the EZ with all of the programmers and timing/duration boxes I have used over the last 3 years. It always seems to smooth out low end.

Have had my EZ and Smarty Jr. stacked for about a week. Have the EZ on level 1 and the Jr. on sw1. Definitely notice a difference with the EZ on. Turbo spools up quicker. Definitely seems to compliment the Smarty Jr. quite nicely. Not sure what economy will be, only time will tell. Haven't tried any other levels as of yet. Always concerned with RP and injector stress and haven't gotten my Pricol RP gauge yet. Will be interesting to see rail pressure differences once it is installed.

Seems to be a great combo. It works very well on my friends truck. On the highest levels it is draining the rail a bit. We modded the FCA which helped a lot, but twin pumps may be in the near future.

I have been running smarty amd edge ez for 35,000 miles and she is working great!

Ez at level 2 and smarty on level 5 plus timing or higher depending how much fun i wanna have... ... .....

Later,

Trevis
