Smarty wont read ecm!!!

so i finally got around to some of the tsb's and now my smarty wont work. before i took it to the dealer, i put the stock program back in so i could get the updates done. now im trying to load my program from smarty back in and all it says is "Unknown Software". its probably due to the flash, but i was wondering if anyone else is having problems with this? i bought from bob wagner so hopefully he will chime in or marco. thanks

The new dodge flash requires new software in your smarty. Go to the mads electronics website and update your smarty with the new 06 software and it will work.

If you use XP go with the one optimized for XP.



ON EDIT: You need both those files, the downloader and the usb driver, you selected the right stuff.

allright, i did all the install. now i have version 4. 03A. went to go flash the ecm, got the same result. anymore suggestions?

There's a way for Smarty to read the pcm # so you know what you got. Turn the key on without starting the truck. now hold down the #5 key and plug Smarty into your obd port, then release the #5 key, then the display will show what pcm version you have, write it down for future reference.

bob i will be giving you a call on monday. i got the pcm number, what do i need it for? are they going to unlock it somehow so i can use the smarty?

It's the last 2 letters iirc that determines which "update" you need. I had the "AQ" program in mine and had to wait for a little bit before Marco finished that batch up. Maybe you got a more recent update? Mine was done in Oct. Hopefully, they didn't install an "older" program, but with that tsb#, I think it is. Don't quote me though, but I had that same tsb done on my truck back in April, and then my cold white smoke tsb done in Oct, they didn't list the tsb code on the paperwork, just the new program # with the "#####AQ" on that under hood decal.
