Do EGT’s go up when regen?

Hi, I’m new to the register. I bought my truck last January with 98,000 miles on it, because we were planning to buy a camper and pull it across country. Two best decisions I ever made! We love the camping and traveling, and I love my truck.
I am interested (who isn’t?) in better fuel mileage. I’ve been reading this and other forums for several months, and see that most of the interest in Smary programmers is several years old, and most have now moved on to EFI Live.
So for someone who will not be deleting (annual inspection here outside Nashville), who drives empty weekly mostly Interstate miles, but often tows my 7500# TT with my Harley Ultra Classic (850#) in the bed, and is just interested in 1-2 mpg increase, empty or towing, is the Smarty Jr. still a good option?
thanks for any advise.

Well, I thought my truck profile would show up, don’t know how that works.

First welcome to the forum!

Yes; a Smarty JR will work if you are not deleting the truck. There is a thread on this site from "Brain at Smarty" who updates what is going on with the Smarty.

The new Smarty are emission compliant and should not cause you any emission issues.

Another thing you can do is disconnect the EGR solenoid on your truck and this will eliminate some of the exhaust gas from going back into the engine. You will get a check engine light but this will not harm the engine in anyway. Simple plug this back in about a month before your inspection is required. This will ensure no codes are present when they inspect the truck for emission compliances.

I would do a search in the 6.7 threads for unplugging the EGR. I did this in 2008 for a while until i installed my Smarty S67 in early 09.

Thanks Jim.
I do have my EGR unplugged, I have read a lot about that and it does seem to give me less regens. I plugged it back in a few days before I had to go through inspection, passed no problem.
