Hi boys. I'm new up in the Reno Nevada area and while driving around on a job hunt I saw a sign that said Diesel smog check station. Does Reno Nevada have smog checks done on these trucks. ????

Bill, if they do you have nothing to fear. Look at my sig. That highly modified '01 passed with flying colors... The tech said the Dodges never even come close to not passing...

Cheers, Bill

Here in the 3 or 4 county area of western Washington that has smog checks, we have to get the diesels checked. Unlike the gassers, where they check for hydrocarbons and the like, with diesels, it is just an opacity check, not a particulate breakdown.

Yes unfortunately we do. Try Pro1 Automotive or Sierra Diesel Injection on Mill St. Sierra Diesel are nice people and were very fast when I had to get my '02 done last year.

Unbelieveable. I would have thought California would have been the first with diesel smog checks.

Oh, yeah, now I remember...

They just don't allow most of them to be sold here.

It's on the way... get ready to put your stock exhausts, airboxes and turbos back on...

Can you substantiate that with FACTS or is this just more hearsay?

While I agree, it's almost too good to be true and CA will probably start testing soon, I haven't seen any documentation stating an implementation date. Nor have I seen anything to indicate which years will be grandfathered in and won't require testing. Hopefully we're all just freaking out over nothing for now.

I have had a diesel pu since 1984 which so far is Smog Exempt

But it stands to reason that with Calif's financial problems They would soon require diesels to at least pay some kind of extra fee. Just for the sake of raising revenue.

I will not be happy IF the state does soon does require smog testing, but I sure won't be surprised
