I've discovered that the way for me to get the best smoke cloud is from a rolling start. I'll start slowing down for a traffic light as soon as I can. I keep it in OD until it drops out on its own, which for mine is around 35mph. When the light turns green, and there's no one in front of me, I nail it and get a very nice, dark, smokescreen.
Today, after being behind a line of ricers and hybrids going 30 in a 45, I had the perfect setup. I had a white minivan that had hurried up to the light and had to stop. My timing couldn't have been more perfect. 20 feet from the stop line, the light turned green. No cops in my rear view and I just about pushed the pedal through the floor. I looked out the passengers side mirror and could barely make out where the white van should have been.
I was disappointed that they weren't able to pull up next to me at the next light. I made my left turn then and they were still way back there waiting for the solar eclipse to end.
Smoke. It's not just for Breakfast anymore!!
