RacerGreen - Glad to hear that... . Good Job!!!

Though I also have to say that I took out a Duramax 2 days ago. I was driving up a local highway that goes through small towns. Anyhow this guy in a Duramax pulled up next to me and kept frowning at me. So when the light turned green, we both hit the throttle. I have to admit... he took me off of the line, but once my turbo spooled up I shot by him like a rocket. I finally let off of the throttle at 110mph. At the next stoplight, he pulled up next to me and smiled along with giving me the thumbs up. So I had to smile and wave back.

Boy was my adrenaline pumpin. I was hoping to race him again, but he creeped off of the line. Ohh Well... .

RacerGreen- I drove a D-max Sat. For Comparison I took my truck same setup as you but a 99 and went up a steep hill at 60 mph (54 mph before EZ) then took the D-max up the hill it went 68 mph. So the D-max is still faster than mine with the EZ. BUT i'm sure if we hooked a big load up he would be hurtin.
Maybe stage 2 injectors would solve tis problem.

That sounds a little steep for a an Aluminum engine... don't you guys think??? How is that tin can going to dissipate all of the heat that it is generating???

Don't get me wrong. . Chevy makes a nice truck, but boyyy does it need a better engine.

JMHO

Kev

465hp and 830tq i dont think it will ever happen, not with a cast block and aluminum heads. u would have to change head gaskets constantly. with that kind of power. if that were the case i would think dodge would of stuck with the aluminum viper motor for the dodge trucks. i guess time will tell i just dont think that them isuzu motor will ever be as dependabil as our cummins

Dont cut Isuzu short on dependability. I've seen alot of generators and marine engines that run forever. Had an 82 pup diesel, NO power but the thing was ultra dependable. Guess we'll see how good they are at v-8s

Cast block???? Almost all engine blocks are cast, the only exception to this that I know of are exotic CNC aluminum blocks for drag racing only. The Cummins is a cast block isn't it? I don't see how it could be anything else. But I've been wrong before.

For those who smoked the duramaxes congratulations and keep up the good work. #ad

For those who haven't met a powerstroke or duramax try backing your truck out of the garage and on to the road. #ad

HiPerf360 your right this time, of course we have cast iron blocks and heads. #ad

I think those touting aluminum had vision of a vega. #ad

I believe aluminum dissipates heat quicker and easier than cast iron. #ad

Good job guys! I need something to brag about around here since it's mostly GM country.
We all have cast blocks, but the Duramax has aluminum heads and the Cummins has a cast head. The aluminum does dissipate heat better than cast, but it also distorts easier under temp extremes.
The problem is the difference in metals, cast block aluminum heads. They expand and contract at different rates, making it hard for the head gasket to do it's job. That's why so many of the newer cars blow head gaskets.
Just wait till those Duramax's have 100k on them, unless they change their coolant every 30k and use distilled water, they'll be blowing gaskets.
