smokey edm 80's on o4.5 with ez

i just don't think this is normal. while idleing warm or cold, i get a constant haze coming from my exhaust. it is blueish in color. my rear quarter and bumper are always black(on a red sport!) is this normal with edm's? exhaust temp seems normal. i havn't tried to see if it happens with the ez disconnected. thanks... james

Maybe I can help you out, send the injectors and EZ to me. Then I will stack the EZ on the HOT Juice, install the injectors and let you know if it is normal or not.

Mine too. I can really notice it at night in the headlights of cars that are following me. My truck still smokes a lot in the mornings after the reflash, but it seems to run smooth and there doesn't seem to be any lost power. I have just decided that a little smoke is nothing to worry about as long as it's running good, all temps are normal, and fuel economy is fine.

Mine tends to do that when cold, But not all the time. I sometimes think it is a un-balanced injector... like slightly larger than the rest

My theory on the smoke is the HPCR runs at low pressure at idle and therefore the injectors do not atomize well. Jerk-pump systems especially the 24v have higher pressures at idle and thus less smoke. I think the emissions requirements are not as concerned with idle situations so they can get away with smoke at idle.



My '03 was pretty clean when cold though, but it sure did stink.

edm 80's

scott at mass diesel got and installed them for me. they are awsome injectors! with the ez and injectors i beat my buddy in his 2004 duramax with the edge juice. he was less then impressed. the injectors are very managable egt wise. towing my 30 foot mariah boat(7000lbs) back from florida to connecticut i could hit 1500* easily but only on the long steep hills. this winter i am going to have scott install a bigger turbo and maybe go DTT with the transmission. i already have a DTT valve body. i think the injectors installed was about $1100. they sure woke up that truck! with a transmission i can think about the juice with the ez! ... james
