Arctic Fox and 2500?

Kayak/bike rack off the RV bumper

So we have sold the house, I am due for neck surgery the end of September beginning of October. We were trying to find a RV park close to the hospital, doctors. I have stayed at this park quite a while ago with the 02 5ver and my only complaint was the noise at night from the apartments on the other side of the block wall. I told the wife where we do not want to be parked at this facility. We go to the office to see about reservations as the Doc say's I will have a 3 Month recovery. Length of stay would probably be from mid September to maybe May. The first words from the persons mouth "What year is your RV". I tell her it is a 2002. the next statement " it's to old, we only take 10 years and under". I was kind of shocked as I have heard of this but never had it actually happen. Then I find out almost anything goes during the summer but when it is snow bird season it is 10 years or less. There is nothing in their literature that states any of this so it is a heads up on this park. My 02 looks better than new by the way as it is very well kept.

Generally the 10 year rule is used to keep rolling junk that will come in and never move again out of the park. It's almost always waived if the rig is well maintained and looks okay. Did you have the RV with you when you attempted to make the reservations; if so, did she even look at it? I'm just speculating, but the length of stay may have scared them into thinking it's going to turn into a "permanent" POS that will never leave. Also, being September through May, they can probably be very picky as the park will fill up anyway during snowbird season.

Sorry it happened to you. Good luck with the medical issues.

No Rig, we were in the Wife's Van. I did not have time to give dates as once she heard 02 that was the end of the conversation. They definately would not have to worry about me staying there forever as there is no way I want to be in the Phnx. area in the summer in a RV. Thanks for the good luck wishes.

That's so wrong! I never knew of such idiocy. When/ if I decide to go RVing with my 04, I'll have to deal with that?
It should be reviewed if the intention or ability of the camper is in question.

I was rejected once from a "dog friendly" park because my dogs (English Mastiff & a cow dog) were over 15 lbs. I told them our cat weighs more than that. 180 lb Mastiff and 65 lb cow dog.

It would definately take the steam out of buying a used RV. Some people apparently think we can afford a new RV every 10 years. As far as the age of the RV it does not need to be 11 to be considered junk/eye sore although if not taken care of the odds are greater. It has been recommended to lie about the age but if they are a** holes about the 10 years what else is there to come. We will look elsewhere and criticize their discrimination to anyone that will listen. I have been in parks where there have been the not so good looking RV's but do not know the story behind them so any criticism is kept to myself or the Wife. Now if I pull into a park and the whole place is an eye sore I drive back out.

I remember staying there . we were headed back to Cali from Texas and was right after Christmas . Mine is an 02 don't remember them asking when I called to make reservation. we were only there for one night .

We wanted to stay in Surprise on April 1st to take friends to dinner. They asked about our truck and then the trailer. When I said 2005, they said we will need a picture of it. I said we winter at a Cal-Am park in Gold Canyon on the other side of Phoenix, and they said just a minute, and came back and said the manager OK'd it without a picture. We now have a new 2017 trailer, as that was the tipping point. Greater Phoenix area parks are so full each winter they can turn people away.

The rv parks are private property and therefore they can do what they want. But it does seem like discrimination to me. I wonder if its been tested in court or if it will be.

Just look at the stink created over wedding cakes, seems like anything is fair game.

The Phoenix area is a bit lacking as far as transient RV space is concerned. I believe this is partially because of the tax breaks the RV parks get and the rules their local communities impose to get the tax breaks.

I needed to spent a week in mid June in the Sun City area and could only find one RV park that would take short term campers. Many parks in the area have a minimum stay of 6 months. The only park I could find was Paradise RV in Sun City. Next closest park I could find was more than 20 miles away.

If I was a private campground owner I would at least want pictures. There is some real crap rolling down the highway and also some crappy people who may just want a place to abandon it.
I have not traveled extensively as many of you folks but we typically stay at the state parks, COE's and an occasional private park for short term visits so it hasn't been a problem yet.

You check Sun Flower RV Resort, a Cal-Am park. Passport America should give you a 50% discount for up to 7 days. Snoking

I was asked the same thing a few years ago when my wife and I stayed at Bullhead city. My bumper pull was a 2001. I told them that my RV is stored in a barn and that it isn't all ruined from the sun. They let us stay. We have a 2015 5th wheel now....But still a 2007, 5.9 Dodge "Klunker"
