I put another 2.5 gal Peak Blue DEF in the RAM yesterday using my theory of why they leak. The last two or three boxes I have put in did not leak, drip or have other issues.

When you screw on the spout the little black duckbill vent ends up at the near side of the box(not the center of the box). So to use the box extend the spout and tip the box up with this vent of the high side(like upside down). The vent lets air in from the high side of the spout to replace the DEF exiting without leaking a drop. As the box empties it gets raised up to have the near side flat to the side of the truck.

To say it another way, pour from the high side not the low side!

Try it, you will like it.

Of course he’s not. But its amazing that others can figure out how pour a jug of DEF.

Thanks for the tip , I’m sure others can benefit from it .

i’m new to def (truck on order), but i’ve been told to buy it in the 2.5 gal jugs from the parts store and not buy any at the pumps.
somebody stated that peak brand was the best, what chain of parts stores sell it and is there any brand to stay away from?

I buy it at Walmart. Box has a code for date manufactured. Example 19180 means is was made 180 days before Jan 1st 2019. So you want the one with the next year's and the lowest number. Do not buy extras and store them. When the gauge gets to one half it will take a 2.5 box.

I just purchased a DEF Refractometer... It will tell you if the DEF is good or not. Haven't had a problem so far, but for $26 on Amazon, why not. Cheers, Ron

So.....all of your previous re-filling attempts of DEF have been of the PARTIAL FILL variety????

Truck stop / bulk DEF has always been my preferred route. Just gave White Lightning 8.694 gallons earlier today.......

I had DEF dripping on the ground like about 90% of people report when using the Peak boxes. To add, I hate most truck stops. Ground is messy and price is high, along with credit card problems.

We leave today for the 1800 mile trip South. Somewhere around Salt Lake City it will need another box.
