Does anyone make a snorkel for the 1st Gens?
Has anyone made a nice homemade one? Pics?
The stock intake really is far too low down for my liking and prevents any serious 'creek crawling'
thanks in advance guys!

Hey Bush,
I haven't heard of a good one out there but since the housing is plastic ya gotta think it would be easy enough to mod one. First would be to seal the low opening and that could be as simple as a plastic plate of PVC glued or RTV'd in place. Then you just make an opening in the top of the housing to suit you. (The entire top of mine is opened up so it can breath good). If you wanted to be really slick you could adapt a PVC fitting or coupler to act as a snorkel, attach a piece of flex tubing like defroster ducting or the silver stuff gas rigs use for manifold heat to the underside of the air cleaner and route it so you engine could breath the same interior air that you do.
For serious creek running, both you and the Cummins would flood out at about the same time. Hope this gives you some ideas that you can use.

I've been thinking about using one from a cabover Frieghtliner or the like... mounting it right between my stacks - hmmm, or did I want to take them off and put the camper on???
