I'm looking into adding a Snow Performance Stage II kit to my truck (see sig) and was wondering if head studs are recommended for this kit. I know I'm already taking changes with my current setup and my head gasket is probably on borrowed time, but I rarely ever run my drag comp, just run the injectors HRVP44, Smarty, and SPS62 set at 45 psi. Also anyone running this kit was kind of EGT reduction and horsepower are you seeing? Thanks in advance for any input.

You could use some studs, h2o/meth is a great add on to help controll egts.

It slows down the rate of heat increase alot, I normaly don't get over 1450* when I use mine, but without it 1550+ * but I get get 3-4 times faster.

Other than that I was and am VERY impressed with the h2o/meth, I run my mixture at 30% meth to water, any higher and she starts to ping (ouch) at high boost.

God luck

Your best set is to go to a race fuel place or the track to get your Methanol. I bought a race fuel jug (5 gal) and it lasts almost all year. That way you only have to go by every once in a while.

I little update here and R&D. I recently changed my truck over to the SPS 66 as a single and still have the Water/Meth system on. Mine is a little different as I run two kits (Mark Craig's idea) both have the high pressure pumps but one pump goes to two 625 nozzles and the second to a single 625. There presently set to come at 30 psi (first pump) and 40 psi (second pump) this is the same setup that I have been running for quite a while. With the single it's a little different though, presently I'm running a tweaked 215 pump with 370's and the 66 so it's not over fueled, when the water comes on it's a huge hit (like a N2O hit) running a 50/50 mix, why... . it's simple, it needs more #2. The gain by as a guess is 100 hp based on experience. Now it's time to jump to the I. I. EDM's and see how the power changes.

Where can you buy the meth to make the mixture? Is it windex?

any bulk fuel dealer can order it if they dont have it on the shelf. 1/10 of the price of buying small jugs of washer fluid or air brake antifreeze. comes in 5gal pails, drums, or in bulk if you really need alot.

It did. This morning I set a personal record of 35 min for an injector change. The EDM's as you know flow allot more fuel and the truck likes it but it doesn't like it with the water on. I disabled the second pump and it was still banging a bit, so I backed off on the plate a bit and all is well. I need the water/meth for cooling the EGT's so I had to make it work.

Jim , don’t you just love those injectors , Brady has out done himself , I am impressed with how much power they make , and the better atomization , makes for a lot quicker spool up. I would try and use the Snow 3D kit and let it come on progressively. I could run a lot more water with the twins, but now the intake temp is down and the egt’s are lower The SPS 72 has the motor running way less boost I think it requires less water also , I think I would even up the % on methanol . if you total fluid is less. To achieve the same results with chemical timing enhancement

Jim, try using 25% meth to water, you just might like it better. How much boost does the 66 get you?

Why would I want to take the power loss..... that can't happen! 25% is just about like regular ole washer fluid.

It's running at 50 psi, I thought that might be a little low but then I had the think about the head and cam, Comp's does the same thing... ... moves air but doesn't make allot of boost.

I was just thinkiing that if you used 25-30 % meth you could use the other pump and probably move the plate ahead again, and get no banging with all the power. I found with my truck running 50/50 pinged, and that running 30/70 and an extra pump and nozzle was smoother stronger.

Maybe worth a try.

How do you like the turbo compared to the twins?

Im running the II silver bullet and Mach 6's with the stage 3, I would reccomedn the stage 3 if budget allows, much easier to work with and its computer controlled for a no though operation as far as head studs, I have complete stock head as of now, runnind 44-46 pis of boost with no problems. I am planning to do the head soon but everything is fine without it. any questions feel free to ask

I haven't tried a different mix, nor did I try just washer fluid. I swapped the injectors back the next morning. I run one pump on two nozzles and a second pump on a single.

Love the single, the truck is just too much fun like this. Fast but not fast, lots of power but not so much that you have to try and keep it out of the ditches.

Would everyone agree that the stage III kit is worth the extra money? I'm not sure I feel comfortable with the fine tuning of the system I'm looking for something I can set and forget hopefully, and don't think nitrous is the way to go for me without head work.
