I have decided to buy an 05 2500 CTD. I was wondering If anyone knows exactly what the AHD, snow plow prep is. I found one at Perkins here in Colorado Springs and it definatly sat higher ;that is how I noticed it, and had a different part number on the front coils. I can't be exact since it has been a month ago. I have decided to get an 05 and want ot make sure before the dealer goes to looking around. I have another since it has been one year ago since the buy back on my 04 CTD. The neighbor just traded his Ford on an 05 Big horn CTD and I guess it is my turn.

I believe the difference is only the stiffer springs up front for the weight of the plow. If I missed something someone please correct me.

I have a 05 2500 QC Big Horn with the HD snow plow prep group. It only lists for $130. 00 so it can't be a hell of a lot. The front springs are a bit heavier and they toss in a transfer case skid plate. I believe that is it.

Looking at the window sticker, the 750 battery and alternator came with the Cummins. Perhaps more was listed if one were to buy a gas truck.

Looking around in one of the option sites found this. You get the 750 amp with the Cummins engine, with the Big Horn option, also with the HD plow prep group. Guess I should have 3 of those puppies under the hood.

750 amp battery, larger alternator, springs, skid plate. These are the upgrades I can remember.

All Cummins get the smaller 130A alternator, and 750A battery. If you get the Hemi with snow prep they upgrade to 750A and 160A alternator.

I beat that to death, you can't get a 160A alternator from the factory with a Cummins

Thanks for the info guys. The snow plow prep truck I wanted didn't have the right options so I bought a regular Big Horn with the Serius and t-case cover. I am pretty happy with the choice.

They must figure the Hemi guys will keep stalling their trucks while plowing, thus requiring more starts and more alternator to keep the battery up. Oo.
