Is it possible to put a snow thrower, dual auger on the front of a 2500 with the Cummins? My brother lives in Canada and it is better to throw the snow than plow it.

He does not want to drag a front end loader around just to do driveways. Plowing heavy and deep snow is very hard and can wear out a truck in a few years.

I think a snow thrower would be easier on the truck. A 4x4 with 4. 10 gears, 5 or 6 speed, granny gear and in 4 low with power adders should be enough poop.

27 HP to run the Snow Thrower...

I am sure we have an extra 27 hp to run the snow thrower. The PTO may cost as much as that little gas engine, but would not be as reliable as the Cummins.

Does anyone know who makes this thrower for NH?

If Kohler engines are still as good as the ones I used to use, I wouldn't worry about reliabitiy from it. Never had a lick of trouble from them at all. If they are what they have been for me in the past, I rank Kohler right up there with Honda.

27 hp blower

I find it hard to think of a 27 hp blower as a real tool. For something that will do some real work, you need another Cummins mounted in the bed powering the blower.

Another company that used to manufacture snowblowers for pickups was Loftness Manufacturing in Hector, MN. The pricetag was pretty hefty if I recall. They came with about a 70 HP John Deere or Deutz (your choice) engine unit that sat in the pickup bed and ran some hydraulic pumps. (That Cummins BT4 that was in the classifieds some time back would work great!) The blower itself was hydraulic drive, plus it had electric rotator and spout flipper. Lift and mount was any commonly available snowplow mount, such as Meyer, Fisher, or Western. Loftness is still building blowers, but I don't know if they still offer a unit for a pickup or not. Their web address is http://www.loftness.com/ Currently they only list them for tractors and skid loaders, but the pickup model they used to offer was just a skid steer model with a different mount and the included engine, pump, plumbing, etc.

I don't work for them, don't have any relatives that work for them, etc, but I have one of their 8 foot tractor mounted blowers and love it. It has been an excellent piece of machinery for the 15 years that we've had it. I know it was not designed to do this, but it does an excellent job of blowing cement blocks and pieces of firewood, too. Its amazing what 300 HP administered through a 40" impeller fan can do :-laf

Greenies on bikes: No problem... . except that you usually don't see them trying to ride through the snow drifts.

Small cars: May work if the augers and fan blades were titanium tipped..... You don't see these in the snow drifts either though... ... because they're totally buried! :-laf

Man, I really can't see how 27 hp is enough for that blower. My 15 hp garden tractor has to creep with the blower on the front, and its only about 40" wide. Course I live in Iowa where the snow is usually quite heavy and wet.
