I have been thinking about going with the snow water/meth kit, but have heard some concerns about running the system without studs or O-rings. I have heard that the higher cylinder pressure make it a lot more likely that the head gasket will pop. What do you all think? I am mainly looking to lower EGT's, not add more power. I just don't want to rush into having to do an O-ring job.

stud it and forget it, better safe than sorry ol buddy. ol' betsy may be done this week new head is scheduled for delievery today. keeping my fingers crossed. i will call u and D. S when i hear if i will get it back.

haahah, let me know when you start work on your project. i have got a lot more time on my hands so i can lend a hand. i am thinking about getting my transmission redone here soon also.

How reliable are O-rings for daily use? I haven't found much info in the archives. I'm also looking at the Snow's kit after Piers get's done with my twins. Maybe we could get another group purchase going. The last one worked out great for Matt and the members.

I'm just short of 2 years running the same O-Ring setup that I started out with and I've still never pulled the head after adding the O-Ring'd head and studs, it's been living at 65-80 psi for something like 40K now(or close to it) with no issues and has made hundreds of high boost runs, prior to Muncie 03' I had a tiny bit of seeping from it but a re-torque solved that, in total I've re-torqued the head 6 times, the last 3 times I gained nothing by doing that as it was set.

Jim,

I'm heading up to Piers for twins in January hopefully (if he can fit me in). He had mentioned possibly using my B1-02 as the secondary, just throwing out ideas for better spool-up. I know the general opinion is that the B1 is a tougher turbo but with both units running well down on thier map I don't see the HX-40 being a liability when running water/meth. Any issues with your 40 or opinions on the two different secondary options?

The 40's work very well with Twins, the responce is good on the street and the higher power works well also, I see no issues with mine even in valet at 550 hp it works great... ... ... need to drag a trailer with it.
