We got the first snow here in Nebraska last night and when I opened my door, after brushing off the snow, upon opening my door a big pile of snow fell on my leather seat. This happens every time that I open the door when it is snowing.

I've noticed rain collects and drops on it too. This really surprises me because my 93' did the same thing and you would think 2 generations of redesigns would have addressed this issue.

Snowy seat

I noticed that this morning. Sigh. I hoped a truck wouldn't have the same bad habits as my impractical sportscars. I ended up with a slightly wet butt after the seat heaters cut in.

I've always made custom embroidered towels for my vehicles. I'll just drape one over the seat when snow is predicted. Either that, or climb in on the passenger side and scoot over. At least it was a dry snow this time. I'm not looking forward to rain.

Every vehicle I have ever owned has had this problem. I just chalk it up to living up here and remember to brush the snow off as soon as I open the door.

same here... .

LOL, I got the same thing going. But it is not the trucks fault guys. It is just the way of things. When you open that door your are creating a suction that draws everything to the inside of the truck. Brush the snow off the top of the door and open the door slowly it will help alot.

Mudder, I can't reach the top of my truck without a ladder. Brush snow off the top? Yeah, right. Just how tall are you, anyway? I'm doing well to get the windows scraped clear with an extension scraper.

I wonder if the problem is more exagurated on the '03's because of the way the side are tapered in for aerodynamics? Look at an '03 compared to a 2nd gen and you will notice that the top of the cab is a lot narrower on the new ones.

You can't have aerodynamic and a dry seat. Mudder has the right idea, brush the snow off first. duh
If you can't reach the roof, do like I do keep a 2' step ladder in the bed of the truck. It comes in handy a lot.

snow drift

 I brushed all the snow off the top of the door but there is a deer ravine atop the door for the powder to accumulate to drop in. From previous experience you better use silicone on the door seals and wax the doors where the seals ride cause when we get freezing rain, you won't be gettin in the doors till spring with all the room up above the seal for ice to form!!!!!!!!

Happened to me to. I can deal with the snow and wet seat. But the 1 degree weather we are having is getting REAL old. I'm going to have to cover part of the grill if this keeps up. I made it all the way to work (14 miles) and the only thing keeping me warm was the seat heaters!

Matt,

I drive 25 mi one way. Since I leave at 0530 ( as in o my God it's early) it is cold and dark on the way in and I usually don't feel any heat untill I get about half way there. Used that new exhaust brake to warm up the truck this morning, had heat in a couple of miles and it was 14 this morning. I just let it run at fast idle with the brake onfor about 15 min. It uses a little fuel, but sure is nice to have a warm truck especally since my heated seats didn't make it.

Howdy MattSt; see you there the 25th!

That first sub-zero morning I cut a box the right size and stuck it between the bumper and grill; it works pretty good. I've had the grill inserts too in other trucks but they draw so much air from the bumper openings you almost need both.

Guess you'll be needing some running boards and grab handles then . Useful in certain jousting manuevers , also. :D

But seriously , you only have to brush off around the door openings , and one of those nice 2 dollar , long handled , made in America brushes should do that.
