Snowmobiling in Canada..

My sweet loving mother got the ultimate Valentine's day present... .

Some S&*thead(s) stole her brand new snowmobile this afternoon while they were eating lunch at a restaurant up in Canada.

Picked hers out of all others there. She's got a regular ol' sled... It wasn't one of those really fast flashy racing ones.

At first she thought some of the guys in the group were mess'n with her.

What bothers me most is that my parents have never had a lot of money... . but they save anywhere they can... and my father does side jobs for extra money so they can do things like this every once in a while.

Heck, My father couldn't even go because he had to work. So she went with my sister and BIL.

At least it was insured. . but the insurance will NEVER cover the cost of replacement.
BIG DEAL, she'll probably get pennies on the dollar with our luck. .

I wish it would have happened to me instead... I'm used to dealing with people who drink out of toilets...

She's just a good old country girl who goes to church every sunday and wouldn't do anyone any harm.

Sorry I can't say the same. .

I hope one day something steals from them... . like testicular cancer or Glucoma or something..... !! If for no other reason, I'd like to know their names so I can watch the obituaries. . to know when the good Lord finally said "ENOUGH".

Lastly,I wish this board allowed people to say what they really think. . I probably said something I shouldn't have. Only right now, I'm refraining as it is... .

Did she forget to pull the key. I have a microchip that is on the tether switch, which makes it impossible to operate without it. There is alot of snowmobile theft going on these days. We were in Northern Wisconsin last week and the locals made sure and told us that we better take our keys out and park them in well lit areas because of the amount of theft that is going on.

It comes factory on the Ski-doo. It will start without it but when you apply the throttle it acts like it is missfiring and will not move. It may be possible to buy one from a dealer but I am not for sure. I bought an extra one and they had to program it at the dealer. Incase I lost one I would not want to be without an extra.

My MXZ (yeah I know it doesn't go along very well with my screen name) has the tether switch microchip, but I have been told by more than one person who knows more than I about Doo that the chip from another slep can easily be made to fit yours or anyone else's. They said it was there for false sense of security more than anything else. Just what I heard FWIW

I have 4 other friends with ski-doos and none of ours will start each others sleds. The dealer told me they have to program the chips for the perticular sled. I dont think the boneheads that steal sleds are going to go around hooking up computers to peoples sleds that are sitting right in front of the building they are in. But who knows it may be possible. But Not without proper knowledge.

Deezal Man,I think you did a very good job expressing your anger without setting off the word filter. What goes around comes around,those thieves will get theirs,but what does your mom get?Maybe if they hadn't of stole it she would of gotten hurt on it later that day. You will never know.
If a thief wants what's yours they will get it no matter what kind of key,lock or alarm it has. They'll just winch it on to flatbed if they have to. Shotguns work good though.

She bought a 98' left over, and didn't get to use it last year. So to her, its still brand new.
Unfortunately, its most likely one year too soon for the key chip. Yes, she pulled the key, and she was parked in between others. Based on the footprints, the theives really had to work in order to get it out of its spot.

Can't wait to see what kind of bath the insurance company will give her.

Sorry to hear about the sled. Thats pure crap!!!! Just yesterday I heard someone got their sled ripped off and they had it chained to their truck bed... . Man their is no stopping those thieves. My buddy with a new 800 Mountain Cat is really nervous... He wants to sit on it all the way to the hill!!LOL

All ya need for security is a rubber coated cable. Then run it through the track with a lock on it. Snowmobile theft is a business in these parts. Mostly stipped right away for parts. Next to near impossible to recover.
