MOpar guys- W2 head questions

Is there a Southern California member with and 01 Sport model truck that wants to help me out??? I need someone to go by SUVlights.com's shop and let them look at the stock sport light system so they can get my headlight harnes's figured out. They are located in LA.

Here is the contact info:

Give them a call and tell them you are from the TDR and have a 2001 sport truck for them to look at. Tell them this is for John from Alaska.

Its a real small shop so they should know exactly what you are talking about.

If anyone can help I sure would appreciate it and I will do something nice for you in return.

Thanks,

John

SUV Lights

I was helping Jin (sp. )of SUV set up some special highbeam switches.

I thought he had the problems solved?

I think he just wants to make sure he gets the harness' perfect before he send's them to Alaska.

I have a 97 non-sport that I am converting to sport with all 4 low beams on low and I'm not sure how many filaments we are going to light up on high beam. Maybe 8?

Jin is a perfectionist

I know you have been waiting a long time for your harness'

I know because he told me the story.

I will keep my eyes open for 2001 sport.

If anyone reads this and is unsure of having Jin look at your truck

Dont Worry! I'm sure he just needs to "look" at the wiring.

Maybe put a tester on the bulb socket?

You will also be able to take credit for helping all future sport conversions.

Thanks

JR2,

I have the truck to help but i am 50 miles from there. I will keep an eye on the post in the event that i am going there. But keep in mind that i avoid that he!! hole like the plague. I love to help people so i will try. hopefully there is someone closer.

Best regards

DD

Bob,

Unfortunately I have a set of harnesses that don't work correctly and Jin needs to look at a sport to see what is wrong so I can make the harnesses work.

Dan,

No problem, I try to avoid LA too, thats why I live 3500 miles away :D

Thanks again for the help guys and keep looking.

Damnnn... . sorry John, I was down there this past weekend [Thursday thru Monday] didn't have a 'puter with me and didn't see this til today, or I would have stopped for ya. . I drove all the way up 405 from Long Beach where I stayed... :(

No problem, just get the word out to anyone you know who may be going down that way... ... . there has got to be someone out there eventually.....

In two weeks I will be back to my truck (working now) and I am going to try some more trouble shooting and may resort to sending some copies of the wiring diagram from the manual to the guy at suvlights...

John

John,

When you get back, bring it up here and we will get it to work.

I will have my bumper on by then. I picked it up today, it looks great!!!

Bob

Bob - well that is what I was thinking too... . that between you and I and a service manual we could rewire the harness. I think you will like the harness, bosch relays, good stuff all around... . just wish they worked... oh well I will give you a call when I get back to town.

John

hey ! whats the difference from sport and not sport?i have a non sport. Jin came out to my dealership (2 hour drive) to help fix his harness on my truck. he ended up adding a diode pack to keep it from back feeding the system. since it has worked great.

(i gave him a free trans and diff service for the help) ken

kluther - the sport lights have two bulbs (9004 and 9007) and the non sport have one bulb. Jin is looking for a sport so he can test the wiring and tell me what to do to fix the harnesses he already made for me and that have a problem. If you know anyone with a sport in the area, send them to him please.

John,

I'm about halfway thru my project:

Remote the batteries to a box under the UTE bed, using 2/0 gauge welding cable, and three blue top Optimas.

Mounting the ARB bumper and Hella fog lights.

10 gauge wire to the headlights and all the relays are in boxes under the hood.

Bob

I'd love to up there for ya, but with the price of fuel and me just starting a job in San Diego, I don't know if I can get up there in a time frame that'll help out. If you still haven't found anyone in a couple of weeks, I'll be glad to help you out. I sure hope someone can help sooner than that.

Jason - I will let you know, I can't do anyting for about 10 days because I am out of town, then I am going to try to fix it with the help of Bob who posted at the end of page one, if we can't figure it out I will let you know. There is really no rush, if you happen to head up that way for some other reason swing by, but don't make a special trip. .

Bob - you ought to do the headligh upgrade while you have the bumper off, but with the batts removed that will be a piece of cake. I will have to catch you when I get to town to have a look. Actually you ought to take some pics and post em...
