So, got my J/A back from edge....

Anyone done a 3rd gen cam change?

Well, I packed the box up, sent off to edge, Monday, PROMPTLY got it back today!.



Ran home, let the dog out, plugged in the box, tossed dog in cage. and went for my test drive back to work.



I think I gained 50+HP or more. and a hellavalot more power down low. she FAILS TO CLEAR UP now. boost running close to 37-38, no real highway runs yet.



Can't get a hint of traction in 3rd gear at all, she pulls hard all over the RPM band. 4th gear pulls harder then 3rd (due to traction loss).



5/4 ez 3.



Boy does this truck leave a smoky trail! and it's 35 degrees out now. geeez, wonder what kinda black out this combo can put up when it's 90 out :)



I bet if I jumped on the dyno that I'd net 500hp if not more. I definitely had a broken box for a while.



I didn't even get lunch, didn't think I could eat after that. Kinda like that BMW tv ad with the jogger checking his pulse, then the BMW rolls up and the guy does the same thing. :) ISYN! yeah, 500hp+ isn't much for some of you guys, but not expecting it and getting what I should of had for a while is cool



Give me a week and it will be normal HP :)





Might have to get back on that dyno at high-tech once I get the rail gauge :)

Turbo = I want more boost = get rid of the edge box for a tst + gauges. (boost, pyro, 2 pod pillar, maybe 3 pod and get a transmission temp)



if I do that, I need studs, might as well upgrade the springs and injectors as well.



if I do a turbo, need that ATS manafold... boost tubes. .



But, now the CP3 needs an upgrade.



As we all know, this point in the game, your on the edge of the ledge, and it's not down hill, it's down side of mountain, free falling to about 700hp.



I might get that sps62 and just keep it regulated to 40psi tho. We'll see how funds go. . right not $900 is budgeted for tires again... .
 
I hear ya. I'm stopping at what I have in my sig. Regulating PSI to 47 and calling it good. I have the rail pressure gauge on the way for that reason. I want more fuel so the Smarty is looking good stacked with what I currently have which is not the Hot Juice. So I'm thinking Smarty without timing and I'm there. Should be mid 5's on the dyno and hopefully be ablt to tow at 450 and keep it cool. I'll have to keep an eye on the rail though. If I spend anymore money on this truck the wife will kill me. :-laf

yep! I plan on getting it dialed in on the street as much as possible and jumping back on the high tech dyno my self for an hour and mess around with the settings and get a bunch of graphs printed out.

Your right, once you start its all down hill from there :-laf :-laf It takes a lot of self control not to go freakin crazy with the bombs :eek:
 
You probably need a new turbo, even though you don't increase the boost much. What the game is about is getting air in and out efficiently, and neither is happening with the factory turbo over 40PSI.



Get some stress off your motor and jump up to a descent size turbo.

Tiires and slotted rotor breaks setup is next. then a turbo. logically, I need rubber, and a method to stop better, these replacement pads suck.
 
Jason, glad you got her lined out, I guess I had the same problem and didn't need the new electronic wastegate valve, I am in the same situation as you, I am going to go with a pusher pump system, sps62 turbo, ATS exhaust manifold and get an EZ and call it quits. I am sure this combo would get us to 500 rwhp. What do you think EDGE did to those boxes, mine sure is a lot hotter on all levels.

I bet there is a just minor differences in the electronics where our trucks didn't trip and codes. There were some trucks that would trip 3 or so codes all the time, some trucks that worked fine, and some trucks that were funky (ours). I got box version 3. 1 and the attitude version is the same 1. 1 (or 1. 2, forgot). none the less she's a hole new monster, and with the ez and stock turbo, I bet I'm at 500rwhp



heck, the exhaust sounds different, cleaner sounding.



funny how much different the EZ vs, juice sounded when I pulled the juice off to send it in.



I phone edge and reported my findings and the tech told me they'll take an extra look at my old box to figure out what might have happened.
 
Are you sure the box version is 3. 1, I got mine updated about 2 weeks before you did and my version says 2. 1. Dang, am I already outdated? What difference are the two versions?

almost positive it said 3. 1
 
Sounds good to me. My Edge J/A used to set off a code once in awhile, sent it in for the Hot upgrade and haven't had it set a code in a year. Level 5 is just too much for my stock transmission and turbo. Your right, much more than 450+ HP, and things start getting expensive quick.
