This is an incredible resource for us diesel rookies. It's us rookies that can only afford the older (but, wiser) rigs. Unfortunately, it's these rigs that need the TLC. Oh-well, baptism by fire. Gotta love it.

Two years ago I had the Parking and ABS light combo. After replacing Master and booster I extinguished them both. About nine months ago my parking brake light joined me again. Finally, Last week I got greasy and replaced pads and shoes, turned rotors and drums. Bled each wheel, but I still can't shake the glowing red light. Is it just a Dodge thing?

Thanks for all your future words of wisdom,

Cotto

??Side note, why does my insurance guy swear my truck is only equipped with RWAL, when I know my amber (ABS) light comes on every time I start my truck. For this I'm losing out on the "ABS" discount.

Cotto,

Your agent is correct we only have RWAL. If memory serves me (not to well) you may want to clean the connections on the valve block that's in line with the brake lines..... maybe you have a dirty or bad connection

Thanks Grey Wolf for all your input on my three topics. I'm going to check that connection. I also read from a couple of places that it could be the #9 fuse. So I'm going to check that out as well. I'll let ya know the good word soon.

Cotto,

Just so you know, I've been thru most of my brake system and can't get the lights to stay off.

I know there are a few more things I need to check/do, but I'm so used to having those lights on, I might get lonely if they were to go out!

Brakes seem to work fine in all the tests I've given them so I'm not too worried about it.

vacuum?

Fellas - my brake light was doing same thing, and I came to find out I had a broken vacuum pod plastic fitting. Couldn't really hear it with engine running as the fitting was very small, but fixed that and everything cleared up. Also had hard pedal, which was why I searched the vacuum lines, etc.

Just my 2c's worth.

Well guys put a nail in this coffin. I really have to thank you. B/c of your ideas I found the problem. Long story short, I started with the tightened the connections on the fuse, but I still saw "red". Next I checked the vacuum. It was fine. I had over 26 psi (that's as far as my gauge would go). Next I checked the RWAL module. Grounded it, got no code. Disconnected it, waited, then reconnected it. With the glove box open I started my truck and the light turned off as it should. Thought it was fixed, closed the glove box, started the engine again and it was back on. Dang it! While the truck was on, I looked behind the glove box again. As I did the light went out. Come to find out, when the glove box was completely closed it pressed on the wiring harness and jogged the connection between the harness and the module just enough to irritate me. After moving the harness a little I closed the glove box, the gremlin was gone. Giddy Up! Oo.

I would have never found that gremlin without ya. Thanks. Until next time.

Grey Wolf thanks for the insurance info. I was about to switch companies. Question is, why does it say (ABS)? Why not (RWAL) on the dash? Guess I will never know.
