Competition Clash of The Titans on ESPN2 ?

So I didn't get to eat dinner tonight, so decided to head to Toxic Smell for some good food. Well, three friends decided to ride along, and off we go. Get to the Bell, eat, head back. Get about 1/2 way back to campus and I see a powerjoke (from here on, referred to as PJ) in front of me. I'm not thinking this guy is anything to think about, and am going about 3 mph faster than he is. Well, he's in the left lane of a two lane, so I move to the right to go around (I have cruise set at 37 in a 35). When I pull next to him, I glance over/down and see the pax (kid about 13) and the driver (father) staring me down. I was like WHOA BUDDY!! So, thinking he might want to play, the Comp comes on (always set to come alive on 5x5) as we pull up to a red stop light. Well, I'm sitting at the line, and he's about 10 feet behind me still rolling slowly. Finally he stops about 5 feet back.

Well, the light goes green and I'm not thinkin' we're racing, so I'm just easing into it as I always do. When outta the blue I can hear this slight high pitched hum that sounds kinda like a diesel engine, but not really. I check the side mirror, and sure enough, he's got smoke rolling out (smoke written in jest, cause he doesn't know what that is yet) and he's pulling up on me with it to the floor. WELL, that's enough of that crap, so the soot-pedal goes awol through the floorboard. Takes a split second for the boost to build, and he gets just about even with me when it does. From there on, the PJ's lights just kept getting farther and farther back. I'm giggling thinking we're done and he got showed, BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... ... ... ... .

So, I bypass the normal entrance to the school as the road goes back to two wide about 1/2 mile past it, and is straight for about 3/4 mile after that. Well, he rides my stock POS bumper the entire 1/2 mile to the open area. I move over again to the right lane, and sure enough up next to me he comes. Now we're doing about 45 in a 55. As he pulls next to me, I wait to see if he's just gonna try to blow my doors off or wants to run. He puts those big ugly towing mirrors even with my nice sleek ones and looks over, I give the nod, and wait for that awful sounding cackle again, When I hear him put her down, I do too. Now, I didn't have any boost built at the time, but the PJ never pulled on me. I left it to the floor and at 65 kicked the OD button so it'd grab 4th. At about the same time I happened to glance at the pyro and then the mirror. Pyro was buried at 1600*F:eek:  and he was at about 5 lengths and I was pulling. Thinking it was over, I let her back down to 1200*F, but he keeps coming like he's gonna win this one, so I put her back to 1400*F and move in front of him still pulling away, as I'm going to turn left at the next light... ...

Well, the next light comes and it's red too. I'm in the left turn lane, and he pulls up in the straight lane... I had my winder (yes, it's a winder to me, not a window) rolled down and leaned forward to take a look-see at the slower, but almost worthy (notice I said almost... he's as close as any PJ has come to whooping up on me) opponent. I'm smiling, but more of a snicker then anything, and he glances over, and gives me the A-OK signal. I nodded my head, and the light went green. Sure enough, to show that he still thinks he had power, he put it to the floor as I turn the corner. I just giggled and made a U-turn and headed back home..... Let the Cummins cool down a good 7 minutes, and shut her down for the night. She done well.

Sorry for being so long winded... I like to tell a story the right way. :) I not only have one witness to this one, but 3!!!

Good PJ smoking to all, Josh.

i feel ya on this one, i got two buddys who think that 7. 3 could never be beat by a lil ol 5. 9, we played unloaded and loaded and now i just play by my self, they stick to racing each other, its still fun to find a f or c that is unsuspecting and then just light em like the forth and send them home thinking that they just spent $38,000+- on the wrong truck:D :D

At about the same time I happened to glance at the Pyro and then the mirror. Pyro was buried at 1600*F

Why would you look at the Pyro, ignore that think as it's only an advisory..... sometimes you just have to take one for the team and this was one of those times.

pyro, shmyro

i've found out that as long as ya don't hold 'er to the floor for more than about 2 minutes, you'll be fine, i run down the freeway @ 1200 deg so i'm not too worried, it'll jump to 1600+ when i race vettes, and mustangs.

Big DQ is right, hold her as long as you want.

If by chance you CAN burn a Cummins down before it hits redline in high gear it was a sick pig to begin with and DESERVED burned up.

dusted PJ

My story is humble compared to ya'll, but I'll tell it anyway. I was driving thru town going to pickup my wife from work one evening, and was sitting at a redlight. The light turned green and I started off(wasn't racin' yet)all of the sudden I hear a turbo start whistling and I look to see a stock? PJ about a truck length back and coming strong so I punch it. He was gaining until his grille was even with my mirror and we stayed that way up to 55 mph when I backed out of it(45 mph zone and too many tickets already). I don't think that I did that bad considering my underfueled state and my 35" tires! :D
