I was just reading the APPS story. Sounds very interesting but what the heck is it and were is it located. What the heck does it do.

APPS is just another term for TPS.

Did that help!!!

APPS= accelerator peddle position sensor.

TPS = throttle position sensor.

It tells the conputer what you want to do.

They are the same purpose just diferent years. Tps was early till 95? then it was the Apps

Thanks for the APPS Info. I now feel completely knowed up. I suppose that since I use cruze backing out of the drive way Ill never wear out my APPS.

The apps is used to electronically control engine speed - no actual mechanical connection to control fuel flow as in earlier years - all done electronically - the APPS is in reality a large "volume control" like on a stereo - turn it up "louder", and the engine speed increases...



And yes, use of cruise control SHOULD minimize wear on the APPS/TPS, except on older systems that still merely apply mechanical/electronic control of the TPS/APPS, rather than using other circuits inside the ECM to do it separately...
