I went in to service dept to have an interior trim problem taken care of. The service writer said 'ok, let me have the tech look at it so we can make sure the right parts get ordered'. I watched as he took the truck back and after the tech looked at the interior, the service writer popped the hood and the tech looked around. They then closed the hood, brought the truck back up and said they would order the interior part needed.

In my opinion, this is a load of chicken excrement. After I get the trim issue fixed, I plan to let them know what I think of their snooping around when they they had no reason (or right) to be under the hood of my truck and that I refuse to give my work to any dealer that does business this way.

As a warning to anyone that may be concerned, the dealer in question is near a couple of old blimp hangers.

 A piece of chain and a pad lock will fix people like that. When they ask to get under the hood you can tell them "I don't have any engine problems, why do you need to get under the hood?"

Thanks for the heads up - the guys down in SJC seem to be pretty mellow about this type of thing, and they have an awesome diesel mechanic that knows our CTD's inside and out. People come from SD and LA just because of this diesel mechanics strong reputation.

I know we are not supposed to say anything bad about the Ste... , oops, Dealers but the S is right next to the D on the keyboard and fat fingers sometimes hit the wrong key!

Could they have been looking for a trim code number?

Clarification

Just to clarify, paccool, nowhere did I indicate that TDR Members are not supposed to "say anything bad about" dealers. Rather, I asked that TDR members post facts and details rather than slang references.

I apologize that my original communications were not clear. My request was not about censorship and restricting the sharing of information. Rather, I intended to simply request factual information be shared and common courtesy be extended when posting about dealerships (good or bad).

I think the way Socal_Rattler handled this was very good.

I went back and re read the post you put out about the dealers. I read it a little too fast the first time and missed the main point.

Sorry about "stirring the pot" here, will refrain in the future. Thanks for the clarification.
