Last few days I have been getting a message about software update for Uconnect system which "needs to be scheduled to install within 24 hours". Click on "schedule update", punch in the time you want, done it 3 times now and nothing happens and I get the same message each time I start truck. It says to have in Park with ignition off at your scheduled time. The kicker is this radio assembly is replacement of the original which failed, done less than 6 months ago. Seems strange it would need an update already. BTW you dont get a NEW radio...its a refurb...very expensive repair so glad I have the Maxcare warranty...and I woukd prefer NEW parts not refurbs...

If it will not schedule pull the radio fuse for a few seconds and try again. The inline fuse is near the master cylinder or over by the coolant bottle. It is NOT in the fuse box. It might take two ignition cycles to restore the radio configuration after disconnecting the fuse.

So leave the fuse OUT for a couple or 3 ignition cycles? Circuit has to be energized with fuse out? I took it out for a minute then put it back in and still getting the same message every time I fire it up . Fuse is on passenger side on mine. Awkward to get to.

Did you schedule an install time after the reset? The idea behind the reset is to make the update happen, not delete the message.

Go over to RAMFORUM and download the 18.45.01 update and install manually. Or check the uconnect site with your VIN to see if you can download from there. You’ll need a 32 gig usb drive formatted to FAT32. Takes about 20 for the update.

I think I'll pull my 5500 out of the man cave and see if mine updated. If not, I'll do it manually.

Thanks all; great thread!

I can't imagine why they would disable radio and NAV in the meantime. But I will try manual download. I will be really pissed if it ends up being a defective refurb radio that dealer installed a few months ago. "Can't get a new one under warranty only refurb".

So I checked my System info and found software version 18.43.01. Not sure how it differs from 18.45.01 but anyway there was a post on Ramforum by a tech who said if you are getting the update infinite loop to pull the fuse for at least 20 minutes. So I did and after a couple ignition cycles its all working again. Guess my refurb radio is FINE. Ha!

Friends,

I performed the software update on my 2017 Ram 5500 last week, downloading it onto my laptop and to a thumb drive, no problems. Today, I received a single use thumb drive from FCA with the software update on it. Pretty nice of FCA, but pretty late too.

Anyhoo, just thought I'd share.

I seem to recall getting a message a month or two ago on my radio saying it was going to update. Honestly don't know if it did or not. Everything seems to be working since then and have seen no other messages. Then yesterday as wiredawg said I received the letter and usb drive from FCA in the mail. Havent had time yet to check the current software level to see if I need to do it or not.
