I'm using 2x75W Seimens panels, a Lyncom PV12M controller and 2 Trojan T-105's. I can easily replace what my wife and I use in an average day.
Spent the first week of June in Yellowstone, the first two days the temperature didn't get out of the 30's, but we had sun from the second day on... I did run the generator for two hours one evening, but only because it hadn't been run since last September. There was a time when we could go 4 or 5 days in Yellowstone on just the batteries but my wife now STRONGLY objects to that level of electrical conservation.
We put almost the same system on my buddies TT this spring but used the Morningstar ProStar 20 controller. I like the terminals (and the panel disconnect feature) on the ProStar better than the terminals on the Lyncom. If I were starting over, I'ld give serious consideration to the RV Products Solar Boast 2000E.
I like Jay have (2) Seimens 75w panels which put out about 4. 5 amps per panel, a Golden Genesis Series IV controller, and (4) Trojan 105 6v golf cart batteries(wired in series to get 12v, then paralleled together).
I put the batteries in the area pre-wired for a generator. I go hunting in November every year and since I've had the PV system I never run out of power. Heater/blower runs a lot at night, and when I'm huntin' during the day my batteries are charging. Can check amp input from controller to batteries, I've seen it charging at 7-8 amps when the sun breaks out.
Buy/hook-up all batteries at the same time to get proper/even charging to each battery. If you buy them seperate and add on, then the controller will only charge them up to the newest battery level. Hope that makes sense.
Can switch between gel cel or deepcell batteries on controller. To me, it's the best thing I ever did to my camper(Lance 880/ex. cab).
