I just sold my 2000 2500 4x4. Truck has 141K and runs like a dream. I've never had any issues with it ever. Only mods are Edge Comp, 5" exhaust and BHAF. He got about 30 miles from here and said he stepped down to pass a car and the truck shut off and he coasted to the side of I75. He said he can here the lift pump prime and it shows fuel pressure on the gauge. Any ideas? Can a faulty Comp box cause on to shut off and not start? It's hard for me to help him without the truck here but I'm gonna do what I can.

Well, that sucks for both you and him. :-{} It defintaley sounds like it's fuel related. I'd at least check for codes but the VP could be dead even if there's no codes showing. If that's the original VP it may be on borrowed time.

Was anything recently done to the truck? Sometimes problems can be trouble shot or traced back to service, mods, etc, that was done just a few days earlier.

I had a clunk from my front end a while back and traced it back to me not fully tightening down the lower shock mount after replacing the springs. Just an idea.

Well when he was here purchasing it we found a small leak on one of Vulcan big lines where it connects to the filter housing and I tightened the fitting probably 1/4 turn and it stopped the leak. From the looks of the hose it's been leaking a while though.

I've sent a rollback to pick him up at my expense and I'll know more later. I feel terrible about this, but it's just one of those freak things I guess.

I'd feel bad too but that's how it goes sometimes. I'm sure the soon to be owner feels a little better now that you didn't turn the other cheek on him.

Let us know what you find out.

The codes are

P0253 Injection Pump Metering Control A low

P1689 No communication between ECM and Injection Pump

P1688 Internal fuel injection pump controller failure

It's looking like injection pump. I'm gonna give the guy his money back and get the truck fixed and if he wants to still buy it when I get it fixed we'll go from there. :(

Sorry for the bad turn of events there Viper. Kudus out to you though for NOT leaving him high and dry. I think that speaks volumes of your character.

I had a post recently about the 0253 code..... turns out it is only coming up when it is cold outside. The truck runs perfect, but the code keeps showing up when weather gets below 20*.

I cracked the injector lines and I'm only getting fuel out of 1 so that indicates a stuck rotor in the pump from what I've read.

Who's got the best deal on a new VP44?

You're the kind of guy that I'd want to buy a truck from!

That kind of character and integrity is very hard to find these days. GOOD FOR YOU!!

Sounds like VP44 to me also. I hope you can find a good deal.

Check out Midwest Fuel Injection. No core charge if you return the old pump within 30 days. BUT, if you tapped the pump, you may not get core credit? Not sure if that is just a warranty issue or warranty and core issue! SNOKING
