Since the running boards haven't delivered yet, I am under a self imposed "celebacy" on driving the new ride (5 miles of gravel to reach the pavement). Sooo, thought I would take some measurements for fabricating my mudflaps, and, well, got carried away. All measurements taken off of level concrete surface, 3500 Quad Cab, LWB, SRW, 4X4, Stock (no suspension mods), running Michelin LTX A/S 265/70 R17's. For your reading pleasure:

Pavement to High Point on Bedrail:

Front of bed (just behind cab): 54 1/2"

Center of Axle: 56 1/8"

Back of bed, center of tailgate: 57 1/8"

Pavement to center of wheelwell:

Front: 39 1/8"

Rear: 41 3/8"

Pavement to Factory Hitch:

Bottom of tube ID: 20 1/4"

Top of tube ID: 22 1/4"

Cab Clearance:

Center Marker Light to Pavement: 77 7/8"

"B" Pillar to Pavement: 79"

Back of Cab to Pavement: 78 1/8"

Folding Tow Mirror Width, widest point:

Folded In: 102 1/4"

Extended: 109 1/4"

I really need to start driving this truck:rolleyes:

This post sounds like something I would do if I had my truck yet! Great info, thanks!

While we're on the subject of dimensions, how accurate does Dodge's 227. 7" overall length for the QC SWB trucks seem? I know you have the LWB but I was hoping someone else might chime in.

I have exactly 231" from wall to door in my garage and, although parking it would always be an adventure, I want to make sure Dodge hadn't under/overstated the length of the config.

Happy driving!

Thanks Klenger, that's a great resource.

I was just wondering if anyone else with a QC SWB (140. 5" WB) had any experience with what they call a garage on cookie-cutter homes like mine. I had the 227. 7" overall length number from another source, but I've got 231. 5" of overall garage length. Tight fit.

If my driveway wasn't so steep I'd just commit to keeping it in the driveway, but garageability (is that a word?) is a concern.

I can start buying myself more space by cutting a bumper-sized piece of drywall out of my garage and even build a header in that wall. Short of relocating my wife's kitchen pantry to the basement (suggested it... slept on couch) I think I'm going to have to try to fit the truck in the room I have.

Thanks!

It does not fit in the garage at my apt, but it does squeeze into the garage at my parent's house. I am house sitting for them for the summer. Their garage has an extra step by the entry to the house so the bed or the front of the truck can overhang that and just barely clear the garage door. Definitely a tight squeeze though.
