Chevy Duramax, Because Real Trucks Rattle

My school (Pennsylvania College of Technology) is finally getting somwhere with our drag truck project. The truck is a Mack model B-61, started life as a tandem tractor, was changed to a single axle dump at some point and is now a single axle tractor. There is a lot of work to be done, be here's some pics of the freshly modified heads and trans. The heads were cut to a depth of . 060", with a 5. 362" od and 4. 980" ID. The fire rings were machined from a solid piece of bar stock in a U shape, they are mild steel, . 116" overall height, with an . 080 U machined in them. The trans is an allison 4560 fresh from the crate.

Sweet. Keep us updated on the project.

Got any interior shots.

How much of the work have you done to it your self?

MIKE

Honestly, I haven't done much mechanical work to it, we've been waiting on parts etc. for nearly a year. The heads came back though, and the plumbing for our Twins should be in soon. The truck hasn't had any real work (other than the trans getting bolted up) done for well over a year...

Here's an interior pic

We bought the first one, something to the tune of $18k :--)

Then a few months later allison donated a second one :-{}

Oh well...

It is good to see that some tech colleges teach more than just the basics of truck repair. I wish we could have done something cool like that when I went through a diesel program.

Looks Good
