If you follow this link to my grandson's website, you can scroll down to see two pics of our new horse barn.

The barn is 120x56 with the front overhang. We ended up with post construction but used a post supported rafter roof to provide an open airy feeling. The little girl on the horse is our six year old granddaughter. If you follow or have followed this site, she donated the bonemarrow for Justin's cancer treatment. By the way, Justin had a good checkup at CHOP July 3rd. They want to see him stay well another 2 years or so before pronouncing him in remission but for now, he is well.

Good looking barn. Glad to hear Justin is doing good. Keep us posted. My granddaughter will be 3 July 5. They grow up fast:eek:

We have not seen them since xmas as they live in upstate NY and it's hard for us to get away. While they never discussed that the girl may have saved Justin's life with her marrow, the kids know that anyway. It's amazing what comes out of their mouths.

Modern medicine has done all it can for Justin at this point so it is God's will from now on out. If the marrow should ever fail, they won't repeat the treatment. He is clear to back to school in the fall but has to repeat this year. His sister does as well since she missed to much by being in the clinics with him periodically. They are both cool with that though.

That's one good looking boy. Glad to hear that things are looking up for you guys. Oh, and the barn shows promise. Actually, it's very nice. The sky lites really add to the open airy look.

All that time and planning have really paid off.

Good luck to Justin and the farm.

Ronnie

Thanks Ronnie,

We hope the family moves back down around us sometime, I could use a farmhand, ha.

Re: the barn. We found a Mennonite builder who built what we wanted at a far better price than anyone else could even come close to. He also gave me a price on the interior about what the materials alone would have cost me. The skylights are translucent panels with a UV inhibitor. They are not supposed to leak as the earlier generations were prone to do. With 12' high sidewalls and all the lighting, it really came out nice. Outwardly, it appears low key outside from the front. Folks who enter the barn drop their jaw and say wow. Wife plans on posting some pics on her site one of these days. I got the rooms wired prior to drywall so that parts inspected and good to go. I just need to run some conduit, wire the barn lights and the biggie, apply sealer to some 6500 square foot of wood.

Q, is that Centaur fence you used on your arena? I have the coated wire on my back 10 and saving for something a little spiffier for the front lot. I really like that stuff, its easy to put up and maintain and safe for the horses too.

Nice barn!

I'm glad to here the boy is doing good! We'll keep pulling for him!

Yes it is Centaur. I figured it would mimic the white board fence a horse would see at the shows plus the usual advantages of that type of fencing. It is pricy though. The arena is 125x250 so doing the math, four rows at 750 feet set me bach maybe 3500 bucks not counting the posts. I have a couple of large paddocks with it to contain stallions but other than that, I use 1. 5" electric webbing. I put in 5-6" posts so if my number comes in, I can do the whole thing in Centaur.
