For you guys that have never seen the Diesel Engines in a tour bus ***

These pictures are for you.

This is a 2009 Prevost Coach with a Series 60 Detroit Diesel in it. EGR Valve is pooched so that is why a few things are torn apart.

Picture 1 is the passenger A/C Compressor. Tensioner for belts is controlled by an air cylinder.

Picture 2 is the dual 250 amp alternators.

Picture 3 shows the engine as it sits in the rear of the Coach

Pictures 7 and 8 are of the Radiator, Charge Air Cooler and small A/C Condensor which are located on the left rear side. Big Condensor is halfway up the Coach on the right between a couple of luggage compartments.

Like I said, something a little different to have a look at.:cool:

By the way, that white crust all over everything is the calcium road chemical sprayed on the roads by the Maine DOT in the winter. That poor Coach has no choice but to suck it in the rear doors going down the road.

i work on these kinds of buses. . Series 60's and the ones with the ISL in them. Some repairs are a pain in the ___. Ours have Hydraulic fan drives for the radiators. and a single 24 volt 250 amp alternator that feeds into a big arse battery isolator. We use Allisons and ZF automatics.

What auto do those run?

Pretty sure the Prevost's have the Allison. Will check tomorrow when I go back in.

Some of the MCI's and Setra's have the Hydraulic Fan Drive, I think. See a lot of Motorhomes with the Hydraulic Drive, some have been expensive failures as the hyd pump is driven off of a top mount PTO on an Allison. Last one was $4000. 00 just for the hyd pump and pto.
