I am on the third water pump in 3 months. It seems something is causing damage to the impeller. The last one I pulled out looked like someone hit the impeller with a hammer or something. Its almost as if there is something somewhere in the coolant that might be causing this but how it got there I have no idea. Just wondered if anyone else had any similar issues.

IIRC ,sometime back someone found the guts of a t stat in there. How the hell that happened I have no idea. Perhaps pull it and fish around in there with a magnet and see if anything comes out .

Two questions : 1 . Is the water pump a OEM cummins part or some thing else ?
2. Is the pump a rebuilt or a new unit ?

My pumps arent lasting long either. For some reason they all end up scraping the block. Belt alignment looks good. Picking up another pump today as a matter of fact.

Same response as before is the water pumps you are using are they the OEM CUMMINS water pumps ? others are know to act up same goes for the thermostat .
Also if your running a reman water pump you are getting previous wore out parts
