Something significant happened today

The Aircraft carrier USS RONALD REAGAN was launched by Nancy Reagan. Interesting that the commissioning was scheduled on Ron and Nancy's 49th wedding anniversary. What more important or more significant honor could be bestowed on this great man and wife?
The character of the modern aircraft carrier is equally significant, I think. Major presence, major deterent threat, total flexibility in location and response time, and potent reminder that we don't have to beg, borrow or steal to be ready.
A lot like it's namesake, the man of the century!!

just throwing in my . 02, but they started building it 5 years ago at Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia, and he knew at the time that it was named after him. I'm glad he knew, before the Alzheimer's got bad... I could see the ship through the gates when I was there 2 years ago, awesome.
