About 25 years ago, when I was stationed in Spain, we had a small electronics laboratory in our unit who decided to try an experiment one night:
They took a grasshopper and put it on their table and said "Jump".
The grasshopper jumped.
They picked up the grasshopper, removed it's two front legs, put it back on the table and said "Jump".
The grasshopper jumped.
They picked up the grasshopper, removed it's two middle legs, put it back on the table and said "Jump".
The grasshopper jumped.
They picked up the grasshopper, removed it's two back legs, put it back on the table and said "Jump".
The grasshopper did not jump.
They came to the conclusion that a grasshopper with all of it's legs removed can no longer hear.
