So....in an effort to maintain my factory powertrain warranty and extended warranty, I have been religiously servicing my 2012 2500 CTD at a dealership. I have moved since I bought the truck so I am servicing it at Hill Kelly Ram in Pensacola. Today I go in for the 45K service, specifically request the Nanonet fuel filter be utilized and provide the part #. Dealer calls at 2pm with a cost estimate and responds, there is no such fuel filter part #....I confirm the part #, provide web links to Genos showing the filter and part #. Dealer Response: Well that is a MOPAR distributor product, dealers cannot get it. What? Well, we can get it but it has to be in bulk quantity and we don't have anyone else ask for it, so we just use the 5 micron filter instead (....because people no doubt ask for the inferior filter they stock by name/part # when they get their CTD serviced there.) After this I was offered an overpriced air filter, over priced clearance light lens (...and was quoted $100 in labor to replace two over priced lens), and I told them to forget about all of it, I would just come get the truck.
The thing that really irks me is, I have been getting my truck serviced at this dealer for over 20K miles, and about 3K miles ago I had the fuel injectors, injector tubes and fuel module replaced under warranty b/c of "fuel contamination" (...this was the fix/solution provided when I filed lemon law paperwork on the truck and presented it for its 4th repair for O2 sensor CEL codes.) On the repair order it stated the repair was done as a courtesy after I put bad fuel in it and that I should use a fuel additive supplied by the dealer at regular intervals to avoid future problems. ...and then I request a better fuel filter by part number at the same Ram dealer to address any potential contamination concern and I am told to pound sand.
I am standing by for someone to say I am stupid for going to this dealer (again), and I deserve that I guess, but it is ridiculous that one has to drive 80 miles round trip to get a truck serviced b/c of poor support/service at a local dealer. Thank you for letting me vent after picking up my truck after a day in the shop with nothing getting done and placing a parts order from Genos.#@$%!
