Do any of you miss the lack of rattle of the newer CTD's. I'm sitting here listening to my neighbor's boyfriend's 99 CTD idling as I type this. I have to admit that I kinda miss that sound at times on my truck. No I'm not sorry at all buying the 03, because it's real nice when you pull up to the drive thru at the bank, or fast food place, and not hear sir would you please turn off your truck. This is my first diesel of my own, but been driving them for years at work. Love that sound, I guess noticing some people it really annoys them. :-laf :D

2nd gen clatter.

you're d@#n right I miss it! But I wouldn't go back now, the new one is growing on me. Its all right though, I've been given permission to stack and straight pipe it. :D

Jodi keeps saying Great Truck, but it doesn't sound like a Diesel like our 99 did. I want to make it sound that way she says, with her lower lip out.

I sure did, first thing I noticed when I test drove one. I love the rumble and shaking of the 12V. I suppose that is one reason we still have it in the drive.

Mine rattles pretty good when it's cold. (pilot injection turned off at cold temps?)

Maybe if you mess with the sensors to make it think it's cold all the time... . :D

OK Pilot injection. So, its getting injected at idle with a small "pilot" squirt and thats quieter? And the older engines get a full squirt which makes them clatter at idle? Is there a tech article on this, it seems very interesting?
