Archived Son broken down near Houston

My son is working near Houston and his '02 transmission is not shifting right. He told me that it will not shift out of 1st til about 25 and will not shift out of 2nd even up to 60. I'm about 300 miles away. Does anyone have an idea or maybe can help? There are no codes when turning the key 3 times.

Thanks for the replies. I talked to a trans guy here and and he said that almost every time that they encouter that kind of problem it is the Governer Pressure Sol. So I called my son and told him how to find it (on the valve body), he replaced it along with fluid and filter and it seems to have fixed the problem. I hope that is all it was.
