I've been cursing myself all day. Last night I made a U-Turn and thought I'd clear the curb. Had to put a little juice into the truck due to oncoming traffic and BLAM!!! I clipped my wheel into the curb and dinged up the edge of my chrome clad steel rim. I'd post a pic, but I'm too distraught to look at it again. The ding is about an inch long and the edge of the rim is sticking straight up.

The first ding is always the worst huh? I know you guys all know the feeling. Arghhh!

Anyways... . is it worth it to try to have these things repaired or should I just buy a new wheel?? If repaired, what kind of shop do I look for in the yellow pages???

I use to bend them things back into almost perfect with a hammer when I ran a tire store. Usually no biggy to hit back in shape. Lots of folks got theirs straightend and never new it was bent or fixed. :D Just wack it back its not hard.

I don't know of the quality of these new wheels. If they aren't any tougher than the chrome steel wheels on the second gens you should have it balance to be sure you didn't bend the rim. I bent a couple on my 96 without even abusing it. Other than that, try to pound it back. You've got nothing to loose.

Sorry to hear that, Steve. I just got my first ding and got it repaired right away. It doesn't sound too serious and you will really feel on top of the world when you get it fixed:) .

It's Mangled....

Well..... I went out there (in the rain I might add) with hammer in hand geared up to bang that sucka back. Upon further inspection, this thing is damaged beyond my abilities to repair with a hammer. I think I'm just gonna buy a new one. Where's the best place to buy one?? Dealer??

Try a tire store that installs aftermarket wheels and tires for the dealers in your area and see if they have any take offs. You might faint when the ******* tells you thier price!!!

Aftermarkets....

Now that you've mentioned it..... the thought has run across my mind that maybe my mangled rim is a sign that an aftermarket wheels are in order :D

BUT... after perusing the net a bit, I continue to find myself completely confused on what to buy..... what size to get them in... . without breaking the bank..... AND something classy, yet unique... . etc... . etc... .

Someone on here not long ago posted a link for some Eagle Alloy?? Series 133's??? that looked pretty nice, but now I can't find them again. Did a search... . but no luck.

Wife of course would prefer me to buy just one replacement wheel... . but with Xmas coming, I could always just buy her a nice piece of jewelry and she'll forget all about my new wheels huh?? heheheh :D

you can upgrade to the factory aluminum wheels at a good price. i got some for myself and other tdr members from an outfit in idaho for 70 bucks each. shipping aint much for aluminum wheels. i could prolly also get some chrome factory wheels for 50 bucks each

Me too

Did the same thing to my Intiped, the tire guy just beat if back, did not even take the tire off the rim.

Mine was a hubcap steel wheel. though.
