Hello All,
My Son saved his money and we found a first Gen, that he could afford, It has some leaks, All Axle seals and Fuel injection pump.

Found on the fuel injection pump, that the kid had removed the fuel pin diaphram, (So it would smoke more) so when you let off the throttle it would blow fuel out of the breather port, and cover the engine. Installed the diaphram. fuel leak fixed.

Started looking up axle seals, and entered the vin# on the NAPA site, and it came back as a 1992 Gas Engine???
It has a cummins in it..

Is there Anyway to tell If the frame and drive train is from a diesel or gas? I'm really hoping it's a diesel drive train so it has the heavier axle's.

Also, is it normal for the transmission shifter to swing really wide? it shifts good but there is a lot of play in the shifter.

Also Changing all Fluids and filters. If I remember correctly? The trans fluid should be 5-30 Sinthetic, one quart over full?

If that doesn't work you will need to get your hands dirty to find out, there should be dana ID tags on the diff covers and the front should have 60F cast into the webbing around the diff.

I just finished upgrading my rear brakes to disc brakes and can give you the P/Ns for rear seals. If the rears are leaking you will probably need a speedy sleeve to provide a good surface for the seals I can also give you the number for those. If you go to Quad 4X4 web site they have an excellent online catalog with including Dyna numbers so you will be able to get the right parts. My Dana 70 axle seal mating surface measured 2.875" you will need to double check to make sure that is correct.

NAPA part numbers:

Speedi sleeve P/N 99287 list $76.74 you will need 2ea.

Seal P/N 28746 list $25.66 you will need 2ea

It would appear that by your post that your son is running a Getrag G360 transmission. The quantity as well as the SAE rating on the oil is also correct but I would suggest using 5W30 synthetic.

My G360 also was sloppy right from the get go and I purchased mine new.

Bob, Thanks for the Part numbers. I got dirty, and found out it does have dana axles. So I'm a little happier now.

And the G360, How loose is normal? When you shift into reverse, it knock's the 4WD lever into 4High, is that normal?

I seem to remember on my old ford highboy with the NP205 there where springs on the lever underneath. are these supposed to have springs?

Thank
Ron

As far as the Getrag goes others will have to chime in mine was a 2 wheel drive. Compared especially to my NV4500HD it was very sloppy.

I looked up my 93' on that site and it worked. > 3B7KM23C9PM160142 <
