My 2004 has injectors and a bigger turbo. I can make it smoke like a freight train. Will the soot buildup in the turbo and exhaust system causing higher egt's?
No. . It all goes out the pipe but it does coat the pipe a little... To help the temps of the exhaust, get more, and cooler air into the engine. The Snow performance methanal injection helps power and lowers temps for the EGT's

Soot is an issue in our beloved Doge/Cummins pickups. Soot will get in the oil, and will aglomerate (attach to each particle) until they become larger in size, which will increase wear in the engine.
Two things you can do to reduce the soot from increasing in particle size, is to use a high quality oil, which will keep the soot in suspension till you drain the oil, and better oil filtration.
