Sorry guys, I guess that I goofed again!!!

Pertaining to my earlier post( I tried this and failed miserably) As it turns out, the only time the chime does'nt come on(since clipping the violet/tan wire) when the key is in the ignition and the door is open, is, when the key is in the off position. When the key is on "on" or on"ACC" the damn chime still comes on. I cannot shut the pickup off and open the door and enjoy the radio as planned. SO, BACK TO SQUARE ONE!!!!!!! :{

yeah problems with the blue wire on the '03 ... door chime won't sound in acc, but the radio won't come on either!

This is getting perplexing

Would'nt ya say? Come to think of it, I forgot to tell Bighammer that the black wire went in the same pin terminal as the violet/tan wire, on my rig. Go figure, eh!

Doors open, radio on:

I wanted to have the doors open and the radio on also.



All you have to do is take a pencil, screwdriver, or other similar sized tool and push on the latch on the door. You'll see a black plastic latch that moves pretty easily. Push it towards the outside of the door and it will click. The truck thinks the door is closed and you get no chime. Put your tool or something on the dash so you don't forget and close the door with the latch closed. Just pull up on the door handle and it releases the latch.

Come to think of it, if you take the door panel off and find the wire that goes to this latch, you could either cut the wire or complete the circuit (whichever stops the chime) and the truck thinks the door is closed all the time.

I would miss the dome light at times though. :{



Sorry guys, the blue wire worked on my truck. My radio works, but the key has to be on for the readout to work. (on acc, it's blank but still works)



It's a PIA that they went and changed everything on the 04s. :{

no need to apologize bh ... everything else works perfectly ... just no radio ... oh well ... got my pass air bag off ... now if i could just figure the radio ... what would we do with our spare time if we settled for the factory nonsense?

I thought if you wanted to kill the Key In Ignition chime you just dropped the lower cover of the steering column and disconnected a wire to the ignition that went to the sensor. Is that not the case?

I guess it's not the case on the 04s. I thought I found what was the equivalent wire but it doesn't seem to work. I wasn't able to get the whole wiring diagram, just the connector pin outs. They must've done something different.
