I am in the middle of rear seals and I need to know the correct amount of preload to put on the wheel bearings and the proper amount to back off the nut. Also any other tricks that may prolong seal life.

What gear oil does the OEM call for?

Thanks in advance for the info.

When I did my seals, I made sure the sealing surface was smooth, maybe some find sandpaper or a file if its real bad. Someone here will know the torque for that nut, I can't remember, but if you did a search You would find it. And 75w90 usually, or 75w 140 if you expect it to have a hard life.

Also make sure to use some silicone sealant on the outside metal edge of the seal before pounding it in to prevent leaks.
