Anyone that is or has done a repower with the B series Cummins engines is aware of the high sound lever that come from these motors. Thats the only bad news, the good news is it doesn't take much to quiet them down inside the cab. I used Accumat products form Scosche on the firewall, cowl, transmission tunnel and under the hood of my Scout. The other contribuation to sound deadening came from adding a muffer. I was getting so much resonance inside, earplugs were a must. The muffler is a Magnaflow 5X9 oval 3" openings, 24 " long. It offers no restriction as its a straight through design and gives the exhaust a nice low rumble.
Pickups and other trucks may not need the muffler but it was responable for more than 50% of the noise reduction inside my Scout.
