I've had my front disks turned twice due to warpage (lousy brakes on my 5th wheel forced truck to do most of the stopping!), and am at the limit of their allowable thickness. They're still OK, but I was told new replacements ran about $275 *each*!

Is there a cheaper source - or at LEAST an upgraded equivelent, maybe BOTH?

Auto Shack or Zone or whatever they are called these days had one for my 93 Ram, you can buy just the rotor, not the hub and rotor assembly for about 60 bucks or so... I have put 7000 miles on this rotor and seems to be ok... .

Just to let you know, you have to press apart the hub and rotor assembly; the wheel studs pressed in from the rear hold the rotors and hub together. Replace the studs. You don't need a press, however, to put it all together. To disassemble, just lay the rotor on the floor, with the studs sticking up, and hit with a 3 pound hammer. You can put the new ones in by tapping with a hammer to start, then once they will hold, just put a lugnut and a bunch of washers on the other side. Your replacement rotors are about $70 each, depending on where you get them. Studs, 16 of them, get the right length. Most auto parts stores will have about 5 or 10 in stock.

I have a set of rotors that need turned off my '93 4x4 if anyone wants to buy them.

Thanks for replies - it will be a while before replacements are needed, just wanted to line up a source, and thought the rotors/hubs were one piece...
