I was out of empire in lower plaquemines. right now I am living in Mccomb Ms and working in Houma La. I would settle for a new rebuild if anyone knew of a good source let me know. Thanks copterdoc

Cummins has the highest prices I've found on new Cummins motors. You can buy them cheaper through dealerships that sell Cummins products. I bought my last one brand new at Southeastern Diesel Sales in North Carolina. The web address is www.southeasterndiesel.com/sale.asp. Direct from Cummins, my brand new 3. 3 was $4,750. I bought it through Southeastern for $3,000 plus shipping. They seem to be very good people. I had many odd questions before I purchased the engine, and they were always polite. If you get a 3. 9, then Avant Diesel Salvage in Georgia has all the parts you need to adapt a GM automatic transmission to it. Just ask for Jamie. He will answer all your questions... The typical rebuild on a 4bt will run you under $2,000. 00 for a long block. I have had several rebuilt in the last few years for myself and friends. If you can find a tired 4bt for $1000. 00 or so, you're doing well going this route. The biggest advantage you'll have is the accesories will be on the used engine, not as likely on the new ones for any were close to $3,000. 00
