I had my throttle cable stick on me the other day. Dodge wants $60. 00 for one of these,I'm supposed to be getting a discount??

Is there anybody on the internet that sells one of these?

Seems to me $20. 00 or $30. 00 should be enough for this. Hell it dont last too long!!

Eric,

Did you have your throttle cable replaced from the dealer yet?

My father in law just had his replaced yesterday FOR FREE! There is a throttle cable recall (At least in Canada). I am having the dealer replace my throttle cable on Friday from Chrysler after they just sent me the recall notice. My truck is a 96 ,my dads is a 97 and he recieved the same recall notice early 98s should be the same. Check with your locall dealer about this recall and save the $20-$60 for something more important like beer!Hope this helps.

Garry.

Yes there is a recall on throttle cables in the U. S. I received mine 3 weeks ago and mailed in my receipt for having it done in 1999 and got a check within 1. 5 weeks after that. :)

Throttle Cable recall

I'm new to this side of life. Life with a CTD 12v. This weekend I'm picking up a '98 SLT Quad cab. 4x4. 3. 55 gears and as far as I know now is stock. It has all the bells and whisles available except PS and leather. I don't know about this throttle cable recall. Is there a place on the internet to check to see if it has been completed on this particular vehicle?

Up til now I've alway owned Ford's and GMC trucks, save on '68 Dodge power wagon mountain truck out of Idaho quite a few years ago. Tuff old beast!

I did call my parts house that deals in Wix filters and they told me that wix makes their own filters. This answers the question on another forum about fuel filters.

About the forum discussion about red fuel, althought I've never own a diesel before I heat a 2400 (that's right) square foot garage with a turbo heater and use untaxed red diesel fuel instead of kerosene. The place I get it tells me it's only difference from regulat diesel fuel is that it is intended for off road use and therefore has a red dye in it for identification. I like the idea of putting in a quart of old oil to hide the red coloring. If I is good used oil I wouldn't think it would hurt anything. I pose that question to you yaaa. That's plural you al.

Mopar4less.com comes through....

I didnt get anything on a throttle cable recall, so I called the dealer with my VIN #. There is no recall on my truck for the "t" cable. Thanks for suggesting it anyway. :(

I called mopar4less.com. Price I was quoted was the same as the guy in town gave me. ($68. 00 ish)

I asked if I could get a discount for a retail tax cert I have. :) He came back with a $48. 00 price. I start thinking "now were talking". I asked how much shipping was. He said $18. 00 !!!

I asked if he was serious, he was.

Next question "why cant you just put it in a USPS $3. 00 priority mail envelope?" He said "they dont do that. "

So I ordered it. I dont want to screw around at the dealer on my day off. (at work now:( ) I figured it would arrive about the same time the dealer would call me to tell me it's in. (wasnt in stock)

I was pleasantly suprised to find it at my door the next day upon coming home from work. I ordered this very late in the day, just the day before. I didnt think this was possible. Someone must have hand delivered it to UPS. I'm happy that I at least got what I payed for on the shipping.

Thanks for help guys.

Eric

Eric, most people don't realize that companies make some of their profits from "shipping charges". That's probably a big reason why mopar4less.com can offer wholesale prices to the public (although it doesn't sound like that was the case for you--you had to mention your retail tax certificate in order to get wholesale).

You can see precisely what their markup is if you call UPS, give them the size and weight of the package, and ask what the cost would be to ship that from Farmington, New Mexico to your home. I would suspect you'd find it to be at least 10 - 20% less.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, and it looks like it worked out pretty well in your case.
