I have some severely rotted out bottom of the cab on both sides,,,but REALLY bad on the passenger side,,,does anyone have any tips or sugesstions to fix these properly,,,i would like to replace with all new metal,,,and use the new glueing process most bodyshops use around here,,,apparenlty it's much better than welding,,,i also plan on having the bottoms coated with spray on bedliner material so they will never get chipped and rust again. . any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I just bought an outer LH (driver side) full rocker for my truck from LMC. I haven't installed it yet, but it looks like it will be a very good fit and the gauge of the steel is good. Its not paper thin flimsy stuff. Sadly, it was manufactured off-shore, Taiwan I think.

Total was about $75 to my door.

Any info on the glue process? I was gonna just cut the old out and weld new in.

3m Glue

A couple years back, I repainted my buddies 98. I used the 3m system, including their pricey two-part gun on lower door skins and rear wheel arches. I followed all their instructions to a "T". I did a lot of web reading and called their rep. 6 mos later, you could see every seam!#@$%! A couple more months, and they were cracking. I even used a edger for all the seams so one piece doesn't set higher and it adds strength. Every job I've seen it used on, at a minimum you can see the joint. I've been painting for 30 yrs and the first car I sprayed was a 63 Rolls Silver Cloud that was sold to Muhammad Ali. I'm not a newbie and have done a lot of very high dollar show cars. I don't know if I got a bad batch of epoxy or what, but when I did mine, I went back to welding and lead! If you glue, pay very close attention and don't expect show quality later. Also, the longer the seam, the quicker it shows. Also, I'd spend the extra and get capa certified parts.

Good luck and have fun,

Dave
