I have the Con OFE clutch in my truck and every once in a while it feels like it slips. I know it slipped a little in 5th today, but right after it slipped I tried to make it slip again and could not. Sometimes I think I shift a little too early and get on it in the next gear and it feels like it slips, but this time I had 4th up to 3500rpms and then got on it in 5th and it slipped. It didn't slip at all on any of drag strip runs last weekend, so I have no idea. Isn't this clutch supposed to hold 600hp? It is kind of kind cold, would that have anything to do with it?

600 HP on ofe

I don't think that the ofe is rated for 600 hp. Its more like 350-400 hp. I am sure someone else (peter) will chime in soon.

CumminFast,

I have the Con O and I'm at about 350hp, which is about the rated limit of that one. I thought I slipped mine the other day driving to work. Swung out in the right lane to pass a bunch of slowpokes doing 30 mph. I hit 4th and stepped into it a little and the revs ran up a bit more than they should. I haven't been able to duplicate it. I'm thinking the tires broke loose just a little. No ice that day, but maybe a bit of sand or dirt on the road. You being at nearly 500hp, I'd consider that.

We do it that way because all other products to build up your truck are sold with hp ratings. We felt it would be easier for the consumer to determain which clutch would better suit them without having to run to a dyno to see what their torque rating is.

Rick, just keep an eye on it and give me a call if it continues.

My truck dynoed at over 400 running a South bend Con-O and it hasn't slipped yet. I do make sure its locked up before I put the petal down. Great clutch.

I have the con OFE and I did a truck pull at the MM02 and i have a blue chip box and a Van atkin box. over 400 HP and maybe 850 or so torque. I haven't dynoed it since I put in the van atkin but it should be close. I stomp on the pedal sometimes and no slip yet. (knock on that wood!)

I have been thinking, it has been a year since it has been cold and last year I remember a few reports of slipping. I think if it is realy cold out the feramic material we use can get a little frosty. This might create a little condensation... not for sure.

I have had my OFE slip ever so slightly when getting on a highway... Problem was that there WAS No on ramp, so it was mash the gas and tote that @--!! I think I shifted too soon, and did not give it time to hook up... It works great though! Thanks again for the seminar at the Texas Rally Peter!

Might try this..........

When I installed my ConO clutch, it would engage right at the top of pedal travel, even lay your foot on the pedal and it would start to slip. I pulled the slave cylinder, pulled the pushrod out and shortened it about 1/2". The plastic piece that engages the throwout lever will just pop off, grind or cut that end, round it off, and slip the plastic piece back on. Don't know if this would apply to any of you, but it worked for me. My clutch now engages about 2/3's up, and does not slip, ever.

When I had the Con B clutch I had some slipping just once in a while. I couldn't get it to slip on demand, but a bout once every other full power run up it would slip. I took the slave off and applied it by hand and found that it would slick. I replace the slave and the problems was gone. Later I made a cut away(I teach auto service) of the slave cylinder and there was a wear groove that would allow the piston cock and stick. I had a bout 85K at the time as I recall.
