Here's what I did:
Swapped my Con FE to the SBC DD Street Comp 3600 lb. 10CB
Just thought I'd give some input/insight on the SBC Dual Disc Clutch I installed in my 03 approximately 12 days ago. I was going to wait longer to post this, but after a change made yesterday, I felt the timing was right to post.
Initially when I installed the clutch, I felt the shifting was harder(which is what I expected), and at times was a struggle, compared to the Con FE. Now keep in mind, I had about 18K miles on the factory oil, which I had put in at 20K miles on the clock. Truck has 38K miles as of today.
The change made yesterday was a switch to RedLine MTL. I made the switch to help quiet the transmission, since the clutch discs are now solid(no dampner springs). The transmission is noisier. But the added benefit of MUCH easier shifting, and initial gear engagement was a pleasant surprise.
Now driving and shifting is real smooth, and I can shift it hard and fast with much less effort.
Now I didn't toss my FE, but reinstalled it in a customer's 03 2500, and it feels real sweet, especially with a clean flywheel cut to go with it.
Now the DualDisk is not for everyone, but I was very pleased with my decision to switch, and thank Peter and everyone at SBC, for their assistance in deciding which Dual to install.
I have towed my trailer with the new clutch, and have to admit, the engagement is smoother with the DD, than the FE, in my opinion.
All of my testing, experience is with the BD short shifter installed, too.
