South Bend installer in the Upper Midwest

Just an FYI that South Bend has another dealer/installer in the upper midwest. Mike's Custom Trucks of Northwood ND (near Grand Forks, ND).



This is a good shop with lots of diesel experience (all brands..... but he drives Dodges).

Has your truck been running good? Hope all us can get together up there at mike's again. Hope Mike can get to mine to check out the timing. I talked to Piers about my rough running at low end. Thinking that it needs a gov spring kit with better seats to help it run smoother. Then maybe I stick the 370's back in then.

Running great.....

Really runs good, even when real cold. Starts instantly, no hesitation when reving even cold. Pulls hard well past 3000.



Smoke is very stinky now until I am good and warm. This is related to timing coupled with lower compression.



Amalagated additive seems to really help cold smoke and winter running.



Thinking of bigger plate soon and probably add baby spings to the GSK. I bought the 3K kit and later added the HD valve springs when I did the headgasket.



Timing has never slipped since the day we met. Must have been something to do with a group of watching diesel heads.



So far I link the timing. Not to loud cold and almost undetectable when cold (I hate loud).

I really like the governor spring set and advanced timing, too. It really eased the cold weather driving limitations of a Cummins.

Of course, with an Espar I have to run heavily winterized fuel. Maybe the Amalgamated is the trick?

First hand experice of slipped timing was White smoke beyond belief.
