Southbend 3400 ConOFE or the 3250 DD clutch? Need OPINIONS!

I just got off the phone with Peter from Southbend. I am in a quandry as to which clutch to buy.
I need a soft pedal as I have had back surgery. I am only running a Smarty jr. The OFE sounds good as it is quiet and Peter says it will hold 450RWHP. Bad is that I don't know how much harder the pedal will be from stock. I WILL run their HD clutch master and slave.
The 3250 sounds ok but he said the shifting may be a little more "notchy". I like the idea of a beefier clutch with a light pedal but I don't know about the noise factor. You guys with the G56 let me know about the shifting and noise.
By the way, My truck is a 2007, 5. 9, G56. Stock tires... maybe 285-75-17's later.

My friend replaced is stock clutch on an 01 HO NV 56honey and the stocker looked like new @ 60K. He also used Southbend The CON OFE

How many miles are on your truck?. Unless the G56 and DMF eat clutches I cant imagine yours being worn out yet.

Mac:cool:

Me too is in the market for a new clutch for mg G56. I spoke to yesterday at May Madness and he told me he has improved his "economy" DD and is a little quieter now and from what he said it is very close to stock pedal feel. Looks like I wll be going wiith a DD very soon as I have been very gentle with my OEM clutch for the past 6K miles as it slips on the Smarty at SW-6.

I am leaning toward the 3250 DD. Only concern is the added rotating mass (two clutch discs) and the trans synchros.

I'm running his 3250 DD with my 5600. Very happy with it, little notchy at times, but after speaking to Peter the man himself friday in Pahrump, I'm ordering his HD hydros first thing in the morning. He feels the shifting qualities will greatly improve once I install the new hydros.

the new clutch has new hydraulics with it, and is actually easier to push in than stock i think your truck also has the dmf like the 06 and his clutch is actually quieter than the noise produced from the dual mass flywheel, we are having to change another one of our 06's to the southbend, when under load the dmf pushes back on the throw out bearing that pushes on the slave cylinder that pushes on the master cylinder hard enough that it leaks fluid on the floor board and is very hard pedal and does not disengage clutch until you pump it a few times. his kit includes a flywheel with a real pilot bearing, when you have it changed out have them put the old parts in the back of the truck and take it home and look at how it was suppose to work. the dmf was a failure for ford and chevy i guess dodge had to try it to see why it does not work

Peter is “The Man” when it comes to clutches. It was nice to listen to his presentation talk to him again this year at May Madness Pahrump as he a wealth of knowledge when it comes to clutches and a true nice guy.

I don’t think any of Peter’s clutches comes with hydraulics but they are an option and must have for G56s. since his is an 03 he has an NV transmission and don’t have the DMF as only the G56 comes with DMF.

According to Peter, Valeo actually designed the DMF originally and then Luk redesigned it and made some bad changes to it. Now we are stuck with them. Peter explained in depth that the DMF will actually separate under load and as you explained pushes back pressure against the check valve on master cylinder which causes it to get stuck. Thanks Peter for visiting us at May Madness again this year.

motorhead is a 07. the south bend kit does include the hydraulics, i would definatly stay with the ofek and not the 3250 i think if you talk to peter one more time he will lead you this direction also
