I am installing a 13" SB clutch in my truck. They did not send new flywheel bolts. I have always replaced flywheel bolts after removing them. I have had a lot of people telling me that it is not necessary to do this with these things. I know this is a dumb question but, I would like to hear some opinions.

Thanks,

Wiltcher

There are no dumb questions here. I don't have an answer for you, because at this point it would be just my opinion, but I might suggest a call to the vendor, SB themselves, and/or the tech sevice people at Cummins and Dodge. I have re-used the flywheel bolts myself, with a dab of Loc Tite, but I'm not suggesting you do that. And that was always on gassers. Diesels may require a different method, like all new bolts. Make the calls, then you'll know for sure. You don't want to do it twice, do you? I wouldn't.

Luck to you,

Dave

Are we talking flywheel bolts or pressure plate bolts? Doesnt really matter anyway as mine have been re-used 5 times and still seem to do ok. I am going to be mad if they fail tomorrow.

If I remember right the manual says "save the bolts for later use" I took that to me they can be reused. I believe it is a common practice.
